1:00 PM Breakout Sessions

1) Accessing the health information I need to make good choices

Our focus groups and interviews told us many people don’t know where they can find useful health information or get effective referrals. How can we increase information and referrals?

2) Can I get the health services I need in my hometown?

Our survey told us most of us can get the health and other related services we need, but often not locally. How can we increase the availability of services in our area as our population grows?

3) The “Bridge,” a barrier to good health services for all?

Our region includes both King and Pierce County residents. What can we do to ensure we and our neighbors have convenient access to health services regardless of where they live?

4) Mental Health Care–
Time for a Change?

Over 60% of those of us who need mental health services were unable to get those services locally. What can we do to create better access to mental health services in our area?

5) Dental Healthcare– About more than just teeth

Nearly 37% of those surveyed go outside the community for dental care. Can we increase dental care locally and address all the problems resulting from the lack of good dental hygiene?

6) Alcohol and other Drug Abuse

Our survey told us the abuse of alcohol and other drugs is the number one health and safety problem in our area. What can be done to address this problem and the other problems that go along with it?
